Arts Council President, Neda Rose, is pleased to announce that Edgewater’s 16th Annual Arts & Jazz Festival will include the "Art of Car Design" for the fourth year in a row.
The events will be presented on Sunday, September 9th. Rain date is September 16th. The Arts & Jazz Festival runs from 11 AM to seven PM. Historically, vintage auto owners arrive early and leave long before dusk, so classic car enthusiasts are encouraged to arrive early in the day.
The auto show is presented on Edgewater Commons, near McDonald’s, across River Road from the Arts & Jazz Festival. Most of the stores are closed because of Bergen County’s Blue Law, so there is plenty of room for parking. Free jitney busses shuttle back and forth all day between the auto show and the Arts Festival.
The Borough’s Cultural & Historical Committee originally organized the show to put Model A Fords in the headlights, because the Ford Assembly plant was located in Edgewater from 1930 to 1954. But the interest in vintage cars, at the arts festivals, soon expanded, and the show now includes later Ford models and non-Ford product.
Dashboard plaques are presented to the first 100 exhibitors and prizes will also be awarded. Admission to both events is free. Registration fees for auto owners are $10 in advance and $15 day-of-show. Fees are waived for Ford product produced before 1930 and for all Fords produced in Edgewater.
Checks should be made out to the Edgewater Cultural & Historical Committee and sent to D.E. Hall, PO Box 284, Edgewater NJ 07020. For further information, contact dehallmr@yahoo.com.
