12:30 PM Nelson Riveros Quartet, contemporary Latin jazz guitarist
Nelson Riveros was recently nominated for the 2010 Latin Jazz Corner “Best of the Year” Awards: Latin Jazz Next Generation Artist and Best Latin Jazz Guitar. His new CD is titled “Camino Al Barrio”. Nelson is a guitarist, composer, vocalist and teacher. He resides in Tenafly, NJ. The Quartet includes guitarist Nelson Riveros, bassist John Benitez, drummer Ludwig Afonso and pianist Michael Eckroth.
1:30 PM Jake Hertzog Trio with bassist Harvie S and drummer Victor Jones
Jake Hertzog is one of the most original and exciting young jazz guitarists on the scene today. Combining his extensive experience in the jazz world and indie rock scene, Hertzog has developed a truly original sound. At age 25, he has already released two critically acclaimed fusion albums, garnering reviews such as: “Advanced… moving… elegant…” (Bill Milkowski, Jazz Times. “Jake Hertzog is a risk-taker and a mind-blowing guitarist. There is nothing else like it.” (Susan Frances, JazzReview.Com). Hertzog’s band mates are the legendary musicians, bassist Harvie S and drummer Victor Jones. The trio has toured the U.S., playing festivals, clubs and giving clinics at universities and colleges. “Evolution, the trio’s 3rd CD, produced by Harvie S, has just been released and takes the trio in a new exciting direction.
2:30 PM AMB -Annie Minogue Band
AMB has a driving, energizing sound, which combines a gutsy rock attitude with great pop sensibility and a hint of the blues, reminiscent of some of rock’s greatest female icons. The band includes Nunzio Signore (Guitar), Nick Saya (Drums), Peter Williamson (Bass) and Annie Minogue (Vocals). Annie Minogue has been a singer, songwriter and musician her entire life. AMB just released their latest CD “Tripping The Velvet,” a true tour de force of songwriting, production and musicality.
3:30 PM The Carrie Jackson Jazz Quintet
Carrie Jackson returns for her 3rd appearance at Edgewater’s Music Festival. A jazz vocal stylist, Carrie is considered one of the most consistently interesting singers in the metropolitan area, and is one of the top jazz artist’s around today providing for classical performances in jazz favorites, soulful sultry pop, blues and poignant mellow gospel. She combines jazz originals, standards, pop/blues tunes, and open improvisation in an adventurous, genre-bending style that’s inspirational and original. Her latest CD release is “IF I HAD MY WAY” (C-Jay Records).
